Fiscal Discipline
In 2009, Obama took office as President of the United States and the national debt was $10.3 trillion. In the last 15 years, ineffective leadership and out of control spending have taken their toll and in 2024 our country’s debt is more than $34 trillion. The US is in a continual cycle of out of control spending and raising the debt ceiling. If we send the same type of leader to Congress, we will get the same results. We can’t spend our way out of debt! We must make tough choices to eliminate deficit spending.

Immigration
With open borders and antiquated immigration laws, our country will crack under the pressure of an unsustainable immigration crisis. Congressional leaders complain and point fingers but refuse to take action to address and update our immigration laws. The Biden administration's open border policy has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis at the US/Mexican border while creating opportunities for human and drug traffickers. This system has been broken for decades. It is time for updated laws and enforcement.

Public Lands
About 71% of Utah is public lands, managed by Federal and State agencies. We must have greater local and state involvement in the management of these lands. While Utah’s representatives in Washington have made some progress, there is much to be done. Designating national monuments on Utah land has become a political conquest designed to bolster popularity for our most recent Democrat presidents. The Antiquities Act must be updated to end such abuse and ensure local and state input.

Pro-Life
I am pro life and support families. I applauded the Supreme Court’s 2022 Dobbs decision in which the Court held that the Constitution of the United States does not confer a right to abortion. I also believe that through effective education and family planning options, we can and should do more to prevent unwanted pregnancies. As a mother of 4, I know first hand that every pregnancy brings unique experiences to a woman and her family. Our children are the future of our country and the world and we should be supporting families, especially mothers, more during pregnancy and postpartum.

Environment
Every parent along the Wasatch Front sees the effects of pollution. When the winter inversions hit, our kids experience coughs and wheezing and plenty of irritated noses and throats. Unfortunately, our beautiful mountains can trap pollutants. Despite long-term reductions in particle pollution and ozone of recent decades, air quality in the Salt Lake City region (which includes areas south to Provo) remains among the worst in the United States. Expensive, inefficient government programs are not the answer, but the Federal Government has an important role in researching technological advances and supporting free market solutions. I applaud bipartisan efforts like the Climate Solutions Caucus.

Global Leadership
Since the end of World War II, the United States has been a leader in the promotion of freedom, democracy, and human rights throughout the world. Through free and fair trade, the US increased opportunities at home and abroad. However recent years have brought a world that is more dangerous and we need strong leaders who will successfully adjust to changing circumstances. Today China, Russia and Iran are increasingly aggressive and the US has failed to react in timely, clear manners. We need leaders who are committed to enforcing our sanctions and preventing Iran and other hostile nations from arming militants who want to see a serious military confrontation with the United States.
